So I have some new news! This #momboss is about to be a new mama of 3, come spring! I AM BABY has a new little arrival that will greet us, hopefully with some nice warm weather! Luckily I now have more of an excuse for hibernating! Now I find people almost congratulate you for staying inside. In the summer there is so much pressure to be outside and constantly doing SOMETHING! I mean some times I like to just veg out and enjoy the AC!
So this time around I have decided not to find out the sex of the baby. It is making it extra exciting as we knew with both our daughter and son what we were having! My husband didn’t want to know with either, so I decided I would let him have this LAST one and we could keep it a surprise! I don’t know about you, but I am a planner! I don’t like to wait to know whether or not I am going to do the nursery based on if it is a girl or boy right?! Who likes gender neutral?? I mean come on! No one wants some white/ yellow/ green sleepers with a tiger or giraffe, that are always more boy geared! My idea is to buy 3 or 4 sleepers of both boy and girl, and bring them washed to the hospital. Then once we find out the sex of the baby, Ill ask Gramma to wash the bags full of whichever gender it happens to be, and take the other bag back! Thoughts on that? What did you all do? Send me a message on social media I would love to hear your thoughts and comments! @iambabydotca.
I’ll be honest, I feel like I am the only person in the world right now that is waiting until D day to find out the gender of their baby! I mean this isn’t the 80’s! The only reason our parents never found out is because there wasn’t an option. They only had an ultrasound if there was a serious problem am I right? I think either way, if you find out or if you keep it a secret, it is still so incredibly special! No matter what, you will always remember the moment you found out regardless if you are in the delivery room or not! With our daughter, we were living in California at the time, and we went to a 3D ultrasound place to find out at 16 weeks. We decided to hit Starbucks to get some drinks before our appointment. They had the ‘Kenya’ coffee all lined up on the displays! I knew it was a sign, as I A: wanted a girl and B: I wanted that to be her name! Low and behold an hour later we found out it was all coming true! And with our son Kingston, well….. lets just say that there was absolutely no doubt that he was a boy. That thing was taking up the whole screen! I don’t know about any of you other parents, but there is no way to hide a boy! With baby #3, I went for my 20 week ultrasound and told the technician that I didn’t want to know the gender. She assured me that I wouldn’t see anything as she wouldn’t point the wand near the private area. A part of me feels that I saw a penis, but I don’t know if it was just me wanting to see something (because I am so nosey, and I am not the type that waits for anything! I am the type to run a butter knife along the tape seam of all of my Christmas gifts before Christmas just so that I know what I am getting before hand!) or if I actually did see something for real! I guess I will find out in a few months!
Wishing all of my fellow preggo mama’s a healthy and happy pregnancy! Please share your cravings, crazy dreams, leg cramp stories and even if you laughed and peed and need support…shoot me a message on social ! Would love to hear from you:)
All the best, until next time Mommies
I have been doing a few trade shows in the past few months and having an absolute blast! I realize that there is 2 main reasons that I started this company in the first place. Number 1- I love babies and know that they deserve the absolute softest and highest quality products the market has to offer. Number 2- when families come in my path, I love to speak with you all and learn about your experiences and cultures ! It’s so exciting and wonderful to me when I hear of couples that come in to my booth, and connect with the product on such a deep level !
Take Helen and her husband for instance; they came to my booth at the BabyShow at the end of September! We all chatted and we discussed that Helen is from the UK and obviously loved our Union Jack and her husband is a born Canadian man:) They purchased the i am Canadian and i am British and were on their way! I knew Helen was a short way away from her due date, however, none of us knew that her now new baby girl Scarlett, arrived just days after the show !
Helen came to visit me again at my booth at the BabyTime show a few weeks ago. She informed me of the news, I met baby girl and she told me all about her experience:)
She had me crying tears of joy in the booth, and really made me remember why I am doing this business in the first place.
I asked Helen if she would write a little something for me to share with all of you!
“Three days after my due date, my beautiful Scarlett made her appearance in to the world, September 29th. Scarlett’s arrival was a lot quicker than expected, which as a first time mum I was delighted with. We weren’t however expecting to have a home birth, which ended up being the most wonderful experience I will cherish forever. With that being said we don’t have the traditional hospital newborn photos, with the white blanket with blue stripes. We are however honored to have the first pictures of Scarlett wrapped in not one but two of i am baby’s swaddle blankets. This picture truly captures our family, a multi cultural family, myself originally from the UK and my husband a born and bred Canadian!
Knowing our precious Scarlett’s first touch was with i am baby’s organic swaddle blankets just felt right. Having the added bonus of the union jack and Canadian flag prominent for her first photo to the world, is an image we won’t forget and will treasure forever! The reason we picked i am baby’s swaddle blankets was not only for how they’re made but their unique multi cultural designs, depicted in an array of colours.
This picture speaks a thousand words to my husband and I and we are so thankful to i am baby for making it even more special!!” -Helen
I love the families. I love the connections and most I love the moments that you all want to share with me.
We aren’t just a baby blanket company. We are a brand that wants to change the world by making people remember and be proud to represent the country they came from. Let’s all be proud of who we are and where it all began for us:) This life is so special and it should be shared and shouted from the roof tops how happy we are to be WHO we are !!!
